Many affiliate programs do not allow frames to be used for two (2) very simple reasons.
1. Using frames can make the purchaser think he/she is on a site that he/she is not on. With cloakers using frames or iframes the person clicking your link thinks they are on your site and buying from you and not from your affiliate link.
2. Sales Tracking, the affiliate programs will have issues tracking sales and resolving issues because all the referral ID’s from their tracking software will show them coming from your site and not the affiliate sales page so I have been told by many affiliate program owners.
I agree with #1 somewhat, it is true when people that goto sites displayed in frames they have no idea that they are not seeing the site displayed in their browser URL bar unless they view the source or get a warning about their browser not supporting frames.
It is kind of deceptive and I think that is the beef affiliate program managers have about using frames to show your affiliate page in.
The person clicking on your link will think he/she is one your site and purchasing the product from you since your URL is what they see.
#2 I am not so sure about. Most tracking programs will pick up the IP of the computer that clicks on the order link, the refer will be your site but the actual order tracking will always have the IP of the person that clicked the order link on the sales page.
The only thing I see that will be wrong will be the refer URL and IP but if I just put a link on my page and someone clicks it they will see the same Refer information as a link in frames.
Be safe and always ask if using frames or iframes are allowed with any affiliate program you join. If they allow you to use frames, by all means use them, it is the only way to insure complete 100% affiliate link cloaking.

Some Affiliate URL Cloakers and Link Tracking scripts use frames or iframes to hide the true page from your visitor. Some of these “stealth” and “ninja” Link Cloakers even allow you to place a popup or pop over on the site you are promoting.
This is great, EXECPT MOST MAJOR AFFILIATE PROGRAMS Specifically State that they do not allow affiliates to use frames, iframes, layers, applets, or images to hide your affiliate link.
Lets use ClickBank as an example, per their affiliate terms:
Invalid HopLinks
To ensure proper tracking of your HopLink referrals, your HopLink needs to open into the top level of a new or existing window. For most affiliates, this is not a problem. However, some affiliates attempt to hide their HopLinks by having them open into other types of sub-window objects, such as frames,
iframes, layers, applets, or images. These types of HopLinks are considered invalid, and can result in lost affiliate referral credit, incorrect display of your website, or, in the case of abuse of the HopLink system, could result in account termination without notice.
What this means is if they catch you using frames or iframes they can and will suspend or terminate your clickbank account (trust me I have been there and it is not fun). You may have just lost all the commissions you had earned when they bust you for using frames and iframes to hide your affiliate links.
That is why I developed ProCloaker, so I could hide and track my affiliate links and choose to use frames where they are allowed. Is it worth risking your hard earned commissions by using methods to cloak your affiliate links that are not allowed?
So be smart and protect your hard earned affiliate commissions the correct way!

Link and URL cloaking is where you take a Link/URL and hide it’s true destination when the Link/URL is clicked on by having the Link/URL you publish online point to your site or a Link/URL shorting service like Tinyurl.com, the person then gets redirected to the true long Link/URL.
Most all big affiliate marketers use link cloaking to hide their affiliate links in all marketing materials, this allows them to stop commission looses due to people that bypass their affiliate links and to track all clicks on that link and to have all links on the internet pointing back to their site for SEO reasons.
Example of Link/URL cloaking:
Affiliate link: http://affiliate-id.vender.hop.clickbank.net
Cloaked link: http://procloaker.com/c/Myname
Long Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/24-Apple-iMAC-2-4GHz-Intel-Core-2-Duo-4GB-
RAM-1TB-HD_W0QQitemZ160393889219QQcmdZViewItemQQptZApple_
Desktops?hash=item25583885c3
Cloaked and Shortened Link: http://procloaker.com/c/IMAC
Both links in each above will goto the same page when you set them up, which would you rather use?
By cloaking your links, visitors have no idea that you are promoting products or services as an affiliate when they see your link in your web pages or in your advertisements.
You can also use link cloaking to turn long ugly links into shorter ones that are easy to remember and do not break in e-mails.
